At Hart Way LLC dba My Little Dachshund Heaven, bringing a puppy into your life is not just a transaction—it’s a relationship built on trust, preparation, and shared values.

I use the term “Transfer of Ownership” instead of “adoption” or “sale” because these puppies are thoughtfully raised and intentionally placed. This page walks you through each step of the process, so you know exactly what to expect from the moment you express interest until your puppy is settled safely in your home.

Join the Notification List

If you’re interested in a future puppy, the first step is to join my Puppy Notification List.

From this list, you’ll receive:

Pregnancy confirmations (when applicable)
Birth announcements
Litter themes and puppy updates
Information on when selection will open

This is not a paid waitlist and does not require a deposit. It simply ensures you don’t miss important updates if you’re seriously considering a puppy in the near future.

Watch the Puppies Grow

Once puppies arrive, I share regular updates so you can watch them grow and see personalities begin to emerge.

You’ll see:

Photos and short videos on Facebook page, Instagram, and this website.
Temperament notes as they develop
Coat and pattern updates as they become clearer
Occasional “milestone” moments

This helps you get to know the litter before it’s time to choose.

Selection Order & Puppy Choice

Puppy selection typically happens once puppies are old enough for their structure, coat, and personalities to be more accurately evaluated—usually between 4–5 weeks of age.

Selection order is determined by:

My program’s established rules
Any puppies retained by me for the program
The sequence in which committed families are ready and approved

💜 Important: I do not accept extra money to move a family ahead in line or “claim” a specific puppy early. This is unethical and unfair to others. Every family is treated equally within the process described.

Securing Your Puppy

Once you have selected your puppy, a $600 non-refundable deposit is required to officially secure that puppy.

Your deposit:

Reserves your chosen puppy
Is credited as a non-taxable boarding fee on your invoice
Is applied toward your final balance

You will receive:

A detailed invoice
Deposit confirmation
Access to the MLDH Puppy Handbook through the portal
Link to place your food and supplements order (with 20% off coupon code)
A copy of the Transfer of Ownership Agreement
Access/reminders to the Puppy Portal resources

Getting Ready to Bring Puppy Home

As transfer day approaches, you’ll receive reminders and resources to help you prepare, including:

A checklist of what to bring
Your puppy’s feeding and supplement plan
Crate and safe-space recommendations
Travel tips
A reminder to schedule your veterinary appointment

If you place your food and supplement order before pickup, you’ll receive a non-taxable $25 discount, which will be shown on your invoice.

Transfer of Ownership Day

Transfer of ownership usually occurs around 8 weeks of age, unless otherwise discussed.

At this appointment, you will:

Meet with me and your puppy
Review your puppy’s health records
Receive microchip information
Confirm your invoice and final balance
Ask any last-minute questions
Receive your puppy packet including new leash, halter, blanket, food, and toys.
Sign the Transfer of Ownership Agreement (if not already fully executed)

Final payment includes:

Remaining balance
6% Pennsylvania sales tax on the taxable portion
Any applicable non-taxable discounts (veteran, nutrition, repeat family, etc.)

Sales tax is required by law, even if you pay cash. Please do not ask me to waive it.

Lifetime Support & Relationship

My relationship with you does not end at pickup. I am here for:

Nutrition and wellness support
Training and adjustment questions
Resource reminders via the Puppy Portal
Occasional check-ins as your puppy grows

If, at any time, you can no longer keep your dog, I ask that you contact me first so we can discuss the best next step for the dog’s wellbeing.
